“Pressing Matters 2016” opens, awards announced

Whiteaker Printmakers' juried exhibition, "Pressing Matters 2016," opened August 2 at Emerald Art Center in Springfield, Oregon. Juror Karen Kunc, Cather Professor of Art (Printmaking) at the University of Nebraska, selected four pieces to receive awards:

  • First place: Mika Aono Boyd (Eugene OR), "Healing Process"
  • Second place: Ben Beres (Seattle WA), "Time Machine"
  • Third place #1: Becky Blosser (Lancaster PA), "Perched Lookout"
  • Third place #2: Judy Mensch (New York NY), "Land"

These winning works, along with twenty-one other equally impressive pieces, can be viewed in the Emerald Art Center mezzanine gallery, open 11-4, Tuesday-Saturday.   A public gallery celebration will be held August 12, 5-8 pm, during the Downtown Springfield Second Friday Art Walk. "Pressing Matters 2016" runs through September 2.
